Laboratory facilities

Electronic Devices and Circuits Laboratory

        Being the most fundamental requirement for electronics and communication engineering, this laboratory paves the way for the students to get a strong exposure in the basics of the field. Furthermore it encourages designing electronic circuits. This laboratory also provides strong foundation in digital and analog integrated circuits. Designing circuits that can be of use in major electronics systems.

        Facilities for gaining extensive knowledge on integrated circuits including Standard signal generators, IC testers, state of the art instruments like digital storage Oscilloscope, Digital IC trainers etc.

Microprocessor and Microcontroller Laboratory

        The laboratory facilitates students in mastering embedded system concepts. It is here, the students learn the method of designing microprocessor and microcontroller based systems. The laboratory is equipped with development systems of latest 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit microprocessors and micro-controllers as well as DSP based systems. Xilinx VLSI based ISE development software is another feature to be mentioned.

        To enhance programming skills of students, the lab is equipped with software tools like Assemblers, C compliers, Code Composer Studio, Simulators and Integrated Development Environment packages (IDEs).

        The lab also has got Pentium based computers running on Windows 2000 to run this software. The supporting equipments include Universal EPROM Programmer & UV Eraser.

System Design Laboratory

        This laboratory exploits intelligence and imaginations, blending each proportionately to bring out innovation and creativity. Extensive facilities for designing Power Supplies, PLCs, AM/FM transceivers etc. are rendered.

        Design of any analog, digital circuits for PCB is provided through state-of-the-art software tools like PSPICE, CAD.

        Any applications in the field of DSP, DIP, FUZZY LOGIC, NEURAL NETWORKS etc. can be developed using MATLAB and CODE COMPOSER STUDIO. Simulation of VLSI Design can be done by XILINX SOFTWARE. FPGA kit for hardware implementation of VLSI design.

Platform: MS Windows 2000 and XP.
Configuration: LAN connected with Net facility.

Microwave and fiber optics laboratory

        This Lab gives an excellent opportunity for the students to brush up their practical knowledge in the vast developing field of Microwave Communication. This laboratory gives the students at an edge in the fast growing field of fiber optics. The students develop inherent capabilities and learn to apply it practically, based on theoretical knowledge. It is also equipped with optical fiber kits, Desktop and Portable power meters, A/V Limiter, Professional grade differentiators, and microwave benches and thus makes a proficient communication engineer

Communication laboratory

        In the field of Radio communication in both analog and digital techniques, students will be getting an exposure comparable to world class institutions. We have the latest equipments to cater the need of training in the ever green field of RF communication.

Network laboratory

        To study the various network connection such as LAN, WAN, etc. The data communication is done effectively using the VI LAN Trainers.

VLSI laboratory

        To design the chip for various systems using Xilinx 9.1i and verify the funtionality using model sim.

Linear Integrated Circuits laboratory

        The characteristics of OP-AMP 741 is analysed, and its applications such as instrumentation amplifier, multistage vibrator, astable vibrator, IC555 Timer is done.

Engineering Practices Laboratory

        The aim of this lab is to study the operation of the various electronic devices like diodes, BJT and FETs and soldering of PCBs. The lab is equiped with cathode ray oscilloscope, funtion generators, power supplies and measuring instruments.

        The department has signed Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with following industries to impart practical knowledge for the staff and students.

Co-curricular Activities

        The indefatigable student wing of ECE Association, will be instrumental bringing out the potentials of students through regular seminars, group discussions, quizzes and lectures on contemporary technical issues as well as personality development programs that enjoy higher success rates.

        The association conducts frequent industrial visits to inculcate the feeling of teamwork in students and at the outset introducing them to actual working environment in industries. It is here that the students learn work ethics since they come into contact with the R & D and Production executives. In practice, the association encompasses identifying and mapping intellectual assets within a team that helps in synthesizing complete engineers.

Department Library

        It has a well contented library, to quench the thirst of students with inquisitive approach in both academics and application fields, consisting of 350 volumes and 50 journals.
