About the Department Facilities Subjects of Study Faculty Profile

Laboratory facilities

The department has well contended labs, excellent infrastructure and dedicated team of faculty members to impart practical knowledge to the students in better way. It assimilates all the facilities and equipments that inculcate modern trends and application of Mechanical Engineering to the students.

Digital Manufacturing center

With excellent infrastructure, the DMC is equipped with Pentium IV processor supporting 40 nodes, software like AutoCAD 2000, Pro-Engineer, Mechanical desktop with power pack, virtual NC Quest, AMD, pro/mechanica, NISA, MasterCAM, I-DEAS, ADAMS, AnsysEd.

Thermal Engineering Lab

The laboratory is established with Diesel engines, Petrol Engines, Air Conditioning unit, Air compressor, Boiler, Refrigeration unit and various Heat Transfer Equipments.

Machine Shop

This laboratory provides strong foundation in manufacturing engineering. This lab has the latest lathe, Shaping, Planning, Drilling, Milling, Gear Hobbing Machine, Turret Lathe and training is given to help the students to gain the knowledge in Manufacturing Science. The laboratory is provided with adequate machines which would enhance the individual performance of the students.

Department Library

Consists of more than 750 Mechanical Engineering books and 25 national and international journals.

MoU

The department has signed Memorandum of understanding with the following industries to impart practical knowledge for the students.

Special Projects

The Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology and Tamilnadu College of Engineering has sponsored for following projects of our students.

  • Study and Experimental analysis of solar hydrogen from photovoltaic electrolyzer system with concept of cogeneration.
  • Solar Tracking Mechanism.
  • Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronically Controlled System.
  • Parametric design of Air fuel car.
