MICROWAVE AND FIBER OPTICS LABORATORY

This laboratory gives the students an excellent opportunity for the students to brush up their practical knowledge in the vast developing field of Microwave Communication and Optical Fiber Communication.

Micrwave technology is being used in many ways as electronic communications have greater influence in our lives. The introduction to Microwave Communications learning program provides you with a ‘hands –on’ introduction to the principles of microwave communications. The program uses a purpose-made microwave training module and a comprehensive student Laboratory Manual that contains both theory and practical microwave experimentation.

Optical Fiber Communication has changed telecommunications all over the world. It is intended to introduce students in the technology of fiber optics.

This lab is well established with equipment like optical fiber kits, Desktop and Portable power meters, A/V Limiter, Professional grade differentiators, and microwave benches to set any experimental arrangement in basic microwave and optics.

SYSTEM DESIGN LABORATORY

The complexity of engineered systems has risen dramatically in recent decades, but conventional system design methods have failed to keep pace, resulting in regular cost and time overruns.

This laboratory exploits intelligence and imaginations, blending each proportionately to bring out innovation and creativity. Extensive facilities for designing Power Supplies, PLCs, AM/FM tranceivers etc. are rendered. Design of any analog, digital circuits for PCB is provided through state-of-the-art software tools like PSPICE, CAD.

Students learn about the interactions between system components and advanced design methods that can fully account for system interactions and capitalize on synergistic relationships to improve system performance and reduce complexity of the design process. Students gain knowledge in better system design which can have positive impact on humanity, such as improving energy efficiency and energy sustainability.

COMMUNICATION LABORATORY

In the field of Radio communication in both analog and digital techniques, students will be getting an exposure comparable to world class institutions. We have the latest equipments to cater the need of training in the ever green field of communication. The Communication Lab is equipped with latest Analog and Signal Communication kits like Sampling and Reconstruction, Time Division Multiplexing. AM & FM Modulator and Dmodulator, Pulse Code Modulation and different types of Antennas.

Students gain more knowledge about the field of Latest Communication Technologies as

  • Base band signaling schemes through implementation of FSK, PSK and DPSK.
  • Improvement of Noise performance of communication system
  • Simulate and validate the various functional modules of a communication system

MICROPROCESSOR AND MICROCONTROLLER LABORATORY

Microprocessor and Microcontroller laboratory helps the students to develop their knowledge on processor architecture and the programming skills. This laboratory houses the hardware which includes 8085 Microprocessor trainer kits, 8086 Microprocessor trainer kits, 8051 Microcontroller trainer kits, interfacing cards and software Keil-51. This laboratory provides hand-on experience to interface I/O devices, perform A/D and D/A conversions, design digital clock, traffic light control system etc., The features and facilities available in this laboratory helps the students to do their projects and enhance their knowledge on the latest trends and technologies. Students from other branch of engineering also make use of this laboratory and develop their skills in the field of Microprocessors & Microcontrollers and their applications.

NETWORK & VLSI LABORATORY

Network & VLSI Laboratory is equipped with hordes of personal computers. LAN Trainer experiments and NS2 simulator environment motivates the students to study and analyze the conceptual and behavioral aspects of wired and wireless networks. In this lab, the students are exposed to various concepts in signal processing through simulation using MATLAB and implementation using DSP processor kits. In VLSI lab, the students are trained to design digital circuits using the various hardware description languages and also their implementation on FPGAs. Lab is well equipped with XILINX , Tanner tools, ORCAD PSPICE package and real time Embedded kits.

DEVICES LABORATORY

Being the most fundamental requirement for electronics and communication engineering, this laboratory paves the way for the students to get a strong exposure in the basics of the field. Further more it encourages designing electronic circuits.

This laboratory also provides strong foundation in digital and analog integrated circuits. An engineer who wants to understand existing analog and digital circuits or to design new ones needs to know the basic operations of electronics circuits. This Laboratory is fully equipped with the required instruments such as C.R.O., Millimeters, signal Generator, consumables etc. Designing circuits using them acts as the basis for the major electronics systems.

Facilities for gaining extensive knowledge on integrated circuits include Standard signal generators, IC testers, state of the art instruments like digital storage Oscilloscope and Digital ICs.

ENGINEERING PRACTICES LABORATORY

Laboratory work is a prominent feature of education in Science and Technology based on subjects. Electronics Engineering Practices Laboratory provides a basic introduction of electronic hardware. This Laboratory provides familiarization and testing of electronic components that includes Active, Passive, Electrical, Electronic, Electro-mechanical, Wires, Cables, Connectors, Fuses, Switches, Relays, etc., instruments like Multimeter, Function Generator, Power supply, CRO, design and fabrication of a single sided PCB, Inter-connection methods and soldering practice, Assembling of electronic circuit/system on general purpose PCB, test and show the functioning are the experiments conducted in this lab.Engineering practice is a study and practice of the scientific principles underlying the art of manufacture.

Facilities provided for gaining extensive knowledge are

  • Testing of electronic components : resistor, capacitor, diode, transistors, UJT & JFET using multimeter.
  • Interconnection methods and soldering practice.
  • LED blinking circuit using IC555.
